Oldest wooden gate in Iran palace open to public

On the occasion of International Museum Day, Iran has unveiled the oldest wooden gate in the historical complex of Golestan Palace.

On the occasion of International Museum Day, Iran has unveiled the oldest wooden gate in the historical complex of Golestan Palace.

The eastern entrance of the palace is decorated with a wooden structure known as Alee (Elevated) gate in Persian and was closed for more than 60 years.

As of Tuesday, in conjunction with International Museum Day, the oldest gate on the eastern side of Tehran Golestan Palace will be open to the public.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Minister, Ali-Asghar Mounesan.

The World celebrates International Museum  Day on May 18, every year. As the name suggests, it is a day to raise awareness on the importance of museums.

Iran is home to a good number of museums and historical complexes, including Golestan Palace complex that consists of palaces, museums and halls.
